The February 1987 cover of Thrasher didn't feature a skater. It featured Chris Doherty, vocalist and guitarist of Gang Green, the Boston hardcore band, photographed by Mofo.
Inside that issue were articles about Cro Mags, Septic Death, Metallica, and Slayer.
It says a lot about what the magazine has always been. For Thrasher, skateboarding and hardcore were never separate worlds; they were the same room with the same noise, and this cover is printed proof of that.
The print is intentionally worn, as if the t-shirt had been in a drawer for years. Soft-hand printing in the center of the chest, soft to the touch.
Boxy fit, wider and shorter, with dropped shoulders, made from pre-shrunk cotton with enzymatic wash, giving it the softness of a well-worn item.
Woven label instead of printed.
