Jim Phillips designed this graphic in 1986, in the midst of the Cold War, and he didn't mince words: the globe clutched by sinister green hands, with an explosion cloud rising above. It was the pro model for Jeff Kendall, one of Santa Cruz's big names in the second half of the 80s, known for aggressive vert and frontside airs.
The reissue comes in a colour that has never been made before. Neon and metallic inks over a silver kaleidoscopic background that darkens to black.
The original shape is 10 inches wide by 29.7 long, with a 15-inch wheelbase, a short 3.9-inch nose, and a 6.6125-inch tail. The concave is the Cruz Missile II, the technical version from the 80s, with an aggressive side-to-side curve and a forward-shifted rocker that locks your feet in place.
Seven plies of North American maple pressed one by one with epoxy.
