In early 1985, Ray Underhill packed his gear and drove his Ford hatchback from Gallatin, Tennessee to California to pursue his dreams of making it big in skateboarding. Soon after his arrival, Powell Peralta recognized his talent and took him in as an amateur on the legendary Bones Brigade team. Ray's patience and dedication paid off when Powell Peralta released his first pro model – the Chain and Cross – in 1990. Known for his smooth style and deep bag of tricks, Ray brought a unique talent and grace to the late 1980s vert scene, making friends everywhere he went.

The changing skate culture of the early 1990s refocused skateboarding on street skating, and by the mid-1990s, vert skating and its heroes were out of fashion. Ray's exceptional personality, skills, and friends enabled him to transition to the supply side of the skateboarding industry, applying his artistic background, ethnic background, and signature kindness to create a successful second career.

In 2008, Ray passed away after a battle with a brain tumor, but his talent, humor, and loving spirit left an indelible mark on skateboarding. To honor his legacy and family, we are proud to release his iconic blunt-nosed chain and Cross Pro skateboards in this gold foil design.
