The lightning bolt was released in 1997 and marks Mike Vallely's second life in skateboarding. After being one of the biggest street names in the 80s, he spent the late 90s and 2000s on the road: parking lots, skate shops, shopping malls, showing kids what he had learned. The symbol became associated with that idea of not giving up.
The graphic is by Jim Knight. A gold foil lightning bolt, outlined in white, tearing across the black from end to end, with Mike's signature at the bottom.
Flight construction, made in Ventura, California: five layers of epoxy-infused maple, with fiber on both sides. Shape 244, 8.5" wide by 32.08" long, with a 14.375" wheelbase, 6.88" nose, and 6.63" tail. K20 concave.
